About Celeste M. Hicks

I am a student in the Recording Arts and Technology program at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) in Cleveland Ohio. This is my final Capstone semester.

Much more than a student.

I'm a wife of 29 years and a mother of three college "kids" who are most precious to me. They have been and continue to be my greatest teachers. I'm so grateful for their endless love and reliable support!

My exposure to music started at the age of three.

A few years later I joined the Cleveland Singing Angels and received professional vocal training. Every weekend I commuted from Akron to Cleveland for every rehearsal and performance. While in school, I took private piano lessons, played viola in the orchestra, and chimes, xylophone, and a little percussion in the band. I sang in every classical and pop vocal/choral ensemble throughout my schooling and participated in probably every artsy and academic organization possible. I loved learning and I loved performing.

In college, I went on to major in music performance, specifically opera, with a minor in music education. After my first year and a half, I had the opportunity to study voice in Germany, but I declined. And I didn't finish college. The direction of my life changed and I began to focus on teaching, training, and developing others in the area of the arts. I held a church leadership position as Administrative Director of the Worship & Creative Arts Department for almost 30 years. There I was overseer and/or Music director of seven choirs, and I created and developed a team of ministry directors and support teams in dance, mime, and praise and worship. I was the Worship Leader for many years and ministered alongside a humble, talented team of instrumentalists, singers, and worshipers. It was both a joy and a valuable learning experience.

Fall of 2013, my youngest heads to college and my husband looks at me and asks what I'm going to do now that I have no more kids to raise. Every so often the idea of returning to school would pop up. The thought was a bit unnerving, but it wouldn't go away. Here I am in my final semester. And my decision just feels right. Everyday. I love the campus and I LOVE my classmates. All of my professors are true professionals and experts in their crafts and a couple are slightly comical, which keeps things fun.

I'm not exactly sure where my degree will land me, but I'm looking forward to every step along the path of discovery. And I'm very sure of my deepest desire to master vocal & music production, then use my skills in ways that help others follow their passion and fulfill their purpose.

I desire to leave a legacy of grace and excellence in vocal and music production.

Kindest Regards,

Celeste
